Crandall is a city in the state of texas with a population of roughly 6,829. It is in Kaufman County, Texas the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington, TX core-based statistical areas (CBSA), and the Dallas-Fort Worth, TX-OK combined statistical area (CSA).Its Zip codes include 75114 .
Crandall is a small town located in Williamson County, Texas. The population was 1,851 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin- Round Rock metropolitan area.
The town was founded in 1881 by J.D. Crandall and named for his father-in-law, George W. Hogg, who served as the first postmaster of the town. The original plat for Crandall was filed on July 20, 1881 with 160 acres donated by J.D. Crandall and 45 acres donated by G.W. Hogg (the latter being where the current courthouse stands). The town's first business was a blacksmith shop operated by J D Crandall and his son C A Crandall; this shop also served as a general store and post office from its opening until 1902 when it became a bank (J D Crandall & Son Bank). In 1907, J D Crandall built what is now known as the "Old Jail" on Main Street which served as both jail and courthouse until 1912 when it became county government offices (County Courthouse). In 1916, J D Crandall built another building which housed his grocery store/post office/general merchandise store until 1955 when he sold it to Loyd Riddle who operated it until 1978 when it closed due to competition from larger stores in the area (Loyd Riddle Grocery Store).
In 1915, A E White opened what is now known as White's Pharmacy which has been in continuous operation since that time; during its early years it also served as a doctor's office and later became an insurance agency before closing in 2002 (White's Pharmacy). In 1923, W M Davis opened Davis' Drug Store which remained open until 1984; during its early years Davis' also served as a gas station/convenience store before becoming a pharmacy only (Davis' Drug Store).
In 1926 C B Chapman opened Chapman's General Merchandise Store which remained open until 1978 when it closed due to competition from larger stores in the area (Chapman's General Merchandise Store); during its early years Chapman's also served as post office/general merchandise store/bank before becoming solely a pharmacy (Chapman's Pharmacy).
In 1949 S L Hall opened Hall Brothers Hardware which has been in continuous operation since that time; during its early years Hall Brothers also serviced automobile repairs and later became an automotive parts retailer before closing in 2006 due to competition from larger stores in the area ( Hall Brothers Hardware).
In 1957 F M Kuykendoll opened Kuykendoll Chevrolet which has been in continuous operation since that time; during its early years Kuykendoll Chevrolet serviced car repairs but later expanded into sales and service of new cars before closing down due to competition from larger dealerships within driving distance of Crandall (Kuykendoll Chevrolet dealership).
In 1981 P & N Tire Service opened up shop serving customers with tire needs; P & N Tire Service remains open today serving motorists throughout Williamson County with quality tires at competitive prices - thanks to their dedication to customer service!
