Doucette, TX

Doucette is a small town located in the Texas Hill Country. The population of Doucette was just over 1,000 as of the 2010 census. The town is located about 30 miles west of Austin and 10 miles east of San Marcos.

The history of Doucette can be traced back to 1876 when the railroad was extended to that area. A post office had been established in 1875, but it wasn't until 1880 that the community was officially named Doucette after a local French settler. The town's early economy was based on agriculture and livestock ranching. However, by the early 1900s, Doucette had become an important stop on the railroad route between Austin and San Marcos.

Today, Doucette is still an agricultural community, but it has also developed into a bedroom community for people who work in Austin or San Marcos. There are several businesses located in Doucette including a grocery store, gas station, restaurant, bank, and hardware store. The town also has two churches - one Catholic and one Protestant - as well as a post office and library.

Real estate in Doucette is primarily residential with single-family homes being the most common type of property available. There are also some duplexes and apartments available for rent as well as some commercial properties such as a convenience store and barber shop. Prices for residential property range from around $100,000 to $300,000 depending on size and location within the town limits.
