Galveston, TX is a coastal city located on Galveston Island. The population of Galveston was over 79,000 in the 2010 census. The city is home to over 2,000 businesses and employs over 10,000 people. Galveston has a rich history dating back to 1835 when it was founded as a small fishing village by the De La Garza family. In 1900, the city had a population of only 6,000 and was still primarily a fishing town.
