Goldthwaite, TX

Goldthwaite is a small town in the Hill Country of Texas. The population was just over 2,000 in 2010. Goldthwaite is located about 25 miles west of Austin and 10 miles east of San Marcos. The town is situated on the banks of the Colorado River and has a picturesque setting with rolling hills and lush vegetation.

The history of Goldthwaite dates back to 1875 when settlers arrived to claim land in what was then known as the Big Bend country. The town was officially founded in 1887 and grew rapidly due to its location on the railroad line between Austin and San Marcos. Goldthwaite became known for its fruit orchards, which were a major industry in the area until the 1960s. Today, tourism is still an important part of the economy, with visitors coming for hiking, fishing, golfing, horseback riding, and other activities.
