Hankamer, TX

Hankamer is a small town located in Williamson County, Texas. The population was 1,851 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin- Round Rock metropolitan area.

The town was founded in 1881 by James Hankamer and his brother-in-law, J.D. Browning. Hankamer served as the county seat of Williamson County from 1892 until 1909 when it was moved to Round Rock due to its growing population and size. The town's economy is based on agriculture, with crops such as cotton, corn, and wheat being grown in the area. There are also several cattle ranches in the area.
