Humble, TX

Humble is a small town located in Harris County, Texas. The population was 10,715 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Houston metropolitan area.

The history of Humble can be traced back to 1836 when Thomas J. Humble and his wife settled on a tract of land along Buffalo Bayou. The town was officially founded in 1873 and incorporated in 1895. Early businesses included a cotton gin, general store, and lumberyard. In 1915, oil was discovered near Humble and the town quickly became known as "the oil capital of Texas." Today, the economy is based largely on services such as healthcare, education, retail sales, and manufacturing.
