Lavon, TX

Lavon is a small town in Williamson County, Texas. The population was 2,812 at the 2010 census. Lavon is located in north central Williamson County and is bordered by the city of Georgetown to the east, by Round Rock to the south, and by Austin to the west.

The town of Lavon was founded in 1887 as a railroad stop on the Houston and Texas Central Railway. The town was named for Lavon Dyer, a local rancher and politician who served as county judge and state representative. The first post office opened in 1888.

The economy of Lavon has traditionally been based on agriculture and retail sales. Today, Lavon is home to several businesses that provide services to residents and tourists in Williamson County, including a bank (the First National Bank of Lavon), two restaurants (Pizza Hut and Subway), an ice cream shop (Chocolate Moose), a hair salon (Hairwayz), two gas stations (Pump 'n' Go and Texaco), a grocery store ( Lavon Market), two churches (First Baptist Church of Lavon and Christ Fellowship Church), two schools ( Lavon Elementary School and Williamson Coppell High School).
