Silverton is a small town located in the Hill Country of Central Texas. The population is just over 2,000 people and it has a small-town feel with close ties to the surrounding countryside. Silverton is known for its beautiful rolling hills and picturesque creeks. The town was founded in 1876 by Dr. J.W. Silverthorn, who had come from Germany to practice medicine in Texas. He bought 640 acres of land near the San Gabriel River and built a cabin on it, naming his new home Silverton after his birthplace in Bavaria.

The town grew slowly at first, but during the 1930s and 1940s it experienced a boom as farmers moved into the area to take advantage of its fertile soil and temperate climate. By 1950 there were already 1,500 residents living in Silverton, and by 1960 the population had grown to 3,000 people.
