Skellytown, TX

Skellytown is a small town located in Williamson County, Texas. The population was 1,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin- Round Rock metropolitan area.

The town was founded in 1881 by J.D. Skelly and named for him. Skellytown is home to the Williamson County Historical Museum, which features exhibits on local history and pioneer life. The museum also has a gallery that hosts rotating exhibits of local art work.

The main businesses in Skellytown are retail and agricultural; there are no major employers in the town itself, but it is close to several larger cities and has easy access to highways and other transportation networks. The median household income in 2010 was $87,000, well above the statewide median of $53,046. There are several housing subdivisions in the town; most were built between 1970 and 2000 but there are also some older homes scattered throughout as well.
