Taylor, TX

Taylor is a city located in Williamson County, Texas, United States. The population was 12,527 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Williamson County.

The city of Taylor was founded in 1836 and named for General Zachary Taylor, who had just died in a battle with Mexican forces at the time. The town's early economy was based on cotton farming and livestock ranching. In 1892, Taylor became the first municipality in Texas to install electric streetlights.

In recent years, Taylor has experienced significant growth as a result of its proximity to Austin and its strong job market. Today, Taylor is home to several major corporations, including Dell Inc., Capital One Financial Corporation, and IBM Corporation. Additionally, the city has seen an influx of young professionals and families seeking suburban living close to all that Austin has to offer.
