Universal City's Home Prices Continue to Rise

Universal City is a city located in San Antonio, Texas. It is bordered by I-10 to the west, Loop 1604 to the north, US 281 to the east and south, and Randolph Road to the southeast. The population was estimated at 103,521 in 2016. Universal City is home to several major attractions including Six Flags Over Texas, SeaWorld San Antonio and Hollywood Park Racetrack.

Universal City began as a small farming community in 1881. In 1923, Universal Pictures was founded in Universal City by Harry Warner and his brother Sam Warner. The city grew rapidly as a result of its proximity to Hollywood Park Racetrack which opened in 1938. By 1950, Universal City had become one of the largest cities in Texas with a population of over 50,000 people. In 1964, Universal Studios Florida was opened adjacent to Universal Studios Hollywood which further increased the population of Universal City. Today, Universal City is home to several major businesses including Six Flags Over Texas amusement park; SeaWorld San Antonio marine park; and Hollywood Park Racetrack horse racing track which has been operational since 1938.
