Appomattox, VA

Appomattox is a small town located in Appomattox County, Virginia. The population was 2,868 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Appomattox County.

The town was founded in 1792 by General James Longstreet and named for the Battle of Appomattox Court House, which ended the American Civil War. The town's economy is based on agriculture and tourism.

Appomattox is home to many historic sites, including General James Longstreet's home (now a museum), Stonewall Jackson's home (now a museum), and Robert E. Lee's home (now a museum). There are also several churches in the town, including First Baptist Church and Christ Episcopal Church.

The Appomattox Regional Airport provides general aviation services to the area.
