Bellevue, WA

Bellevue is a city located in King County, Washington. The population was 116,925 as of the 2010 census. Bellevue is home to many high-tech companies and has been called the "Silicon Valley of the Pacific Northwest". The city's economy is based on technology and biotechnology industries.

Bellevue was first settled in 1869 by Charles W. Mercer and his family. Mercer had purchased land from the federal government for $10 per acre, which at that time was considered a very cheap price. The town grew slowly at first, but began to grow rapidly after World War II when Boeing started producing aircraft there. By 1970, Bellevue had become one of the largest cities in Washington state with a population of over 50,000 people.

Today, Bellevue remains one of the fastest growing cities in Washington state with a population growth rate of over 5% annually since 2000. Much of this growth can be attributed to its strong economy based on technology and biotechnology industries.
