Lakebay is a small town located in Pierce County, Washington. The population was 2,812 at the 2010 census. Lakebay is known for its natural beauty and its proximity to Mount Rainier National Park.

The town of Lakebay was founded in 1892 by George W. Hill and his wife, Lillie Belle Hill. The Hills were early settlers of the area and had a sawmill and general store on the banks of the lake that would later become Lakebay Marina. In 1912, they built a hotel on the site that would eventually be renamed The Inn at Lakebay.

In 1938, George W. Hill's grandson, John C. Hill Jr., purchased the hotel from his grandfather and began restoring it to its original glory as an inn with 12 guest rooms and two suites overlooking Lake Union and Mount Rainier National Park. In 1969, John C.'s son-in-law, Don Sperry purchased The Inn from John C., continued restoration work on it until 1984 when he sold it to current owners Bob & Sandy Weil who continue to operate it today as an inn with 26 guest rooms including six suites overlooking both Lake Union and Mount Rainier National Parks
