Chilton is a small town located in the northeast corner of Wisconsin. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. Chilton is located on U.S. Highway 8 and County Road C near the junction of County Roads D and E.

The first settlers arrived in Chilton in 1836, when it was known as "Pine Grove". The town was renamed Chilton in 1851 after Dr. James A. Chilton, a doctor who had moved to the area from Ohio. The town's economy was based initially on agriculture and lumbering, but it has since developed into a small commercial center with a variety of businesses including a grocery store, gas station, hardware store, restaurant, bank and post office.

Today, Chilton is primarily an agricultural community with cornfields and soybean fields stretching out for miles around the town. There are also several dairy farms in the area as well as some forest land that provides timber for local businesses and homes.
