Iron River is a small town located in the northeast corner of Wisconsin. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Forest County.

The town was first settled in 1853 by settlers from Michigan. The name Iron River was given to the community because of the many iron ore mines in the area. The town grew rapidly and by 1876 had a population of 1,500. In 1892, a railroad line was built through Iron River and this led to an increase in population and business activity.

Today, Iron River is a thriving small town with many businesses and attractions that draw visitors from around Wisconsin and beyond.
