Montello is a small town located in the northeast corner of Walworth County, Wisconsin. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Madison Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The town was founded in 1851 by Joel and Sarah (Benson) Montello on land that they had purchased from the federal government. Joel Montello was a veteran of the War of 1812 and served as postmaster for several years. The first school in Montello was built in 1853, and it operated until 1907. A Presbyterian church was organized in 1868, and a Methodist congregation formed two years later. A library association was organized in 1895, and a public hall opened its doors in 1897.

Today, Montello is home to several businesses including an agricultural cooperative; a cheese factory; two churches; three taverns; four grocery stores; three gas stations; two banks; an ambulance service; two garages/auto repair shops; an ice cream shop/café; four hair salons/spas; three funeral homes/cemeteries (one Catholic); one law office (private); one library (public); one motel (budget); one printing company (private); one restaurant (casual dining).
