New Richmond, WI

New Richmond is a small town located in Walworth County, Wisconsin. The population was 1,912 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Walworth County.

The town was founded in 1837 by settlers from New York City who were looking for a place to farm and raise their families. The first settler, John Burchardt, built a cabin on the banks of the Rock River and named his settlement " New Richmond." In 1845, New Richmond became the county seat of Walworth County when it replaced Saukville.

Today, New Richmond is a thriving community with many businesses and attractions. The downtown area features several shops and restaurants as well as historic buildings like the courthouse and jail.
