Phillips, WI

Phillips is a small town located in the northwest corner of Wisconsin. The population was 1,851 at the 2010 census. Phillips was founded in 1853 and named for Judge Phillips, one of the founders of the town. The economy is based on agriculture, with crops such as corn, soybeans, and wheat being grown. There are also dairy farms and poultry operations in Phillips. Manufacturing includes food processing plants and metal fabricating facilities. Tourism is also an important part of the Phillips economy with visitors coming to see attractions such as Lake Winnebago, which has a variety of recreational opportunities available including boating, fishing, swimming, and sailing; as well as historical sites like Fort Atkinson State Park which commemorates the American Civil War battle that took place there in 1864. Real estate is an important part of Phillips' economy with homes being sold both locally and statewide through various real estate agents.
