Sheldon is a small town located in the southeast corner of Wisconsin. The population was 1,827 at the 2010 census. Sheldon is home to a number of businesses and attractions, including a golf course, an amusement park, and a casino.
The history of Sheldon can be traced back to 1853 when the town was founded by settlers from New York. At that time, Sheldon consisted of just a few homes and businesses. In 1875, the railroad came to Sheldon and began to grow the town rapidly. By 1900, Sheldon had become one of the largest towns in southeastern Wisconsin with a population of 2,000.
Today, Sheldon remains an important community in southeastern Wisconsin. The economy is based largely on agriculture and tourism. The town is home to several businesses including a grocery store, two gas stations, two banks, three restaurants (including a pizza place), two motels (one with an indoor pool), two churches (one Catholic and one Protestant), and three schools (two elementary schools and one high school).
