Trempealeau is a small town located in Trempealeau County, Wisconsin. The population was 1,827 at the 2010 census. Trempealeau is located in the Driftless Area of Wisconsin and has a history dating back to 1836 when settlers arrived from New York. The town was originally named " Trempealeauville" after General Jean Baptiste Tremblay who fought in the American Revolution. The town's name was changed to Trempealeau in 1849 after General Joseph Trembley who served in the Mexican-American War and died during the Battle of Buena Vista.
