Sabana Grande Municipio, Puerto Rico

Sabana Grande is a municipality located in the center of Puerto Rico, south of San Juan and Carolina, west of Caguas and Gurabo, and east of Aguadilla and Isabela. The municipality has a total area of 38.7 square miles (100.1 km2) and a population of 34,120 at the 2010 census.

The municipality's name comes from the Spanish word for "large plain". The area was originally settled by Taíno Indians before the arrival of Spanish colonists in the 16th century. Sabana Grande was founded as a town in 1795.
