Weirton-Steubenville, WV-OH

There is no doubt that the Weirton-Steubenville, WV-OH metropolitan statistical area (MSA) has been hit hard by the housing market crash. However, there are signs that the market is beginning to rebound. Home sales have increased for three consecutive months, and prices are starting to stabilize.

The Weirton-Steubenville MSA was one of the hardest hit areas in the country during the housing market crash. Home prices peaked in 2006 and then fell sharply over the next two years. By 2009, prices had fallen by more than 50%. The number of foreclosures also skyrocketed, as many homeowners found themselves underwater on their mortgages.

However, there are now signs that the worst may be over. Home sales have increased for three consecutive months, and prices appear to be stabilizing. Inventories of unsold homes have declined, as more sellers have taken their homes off the market. And while foreclosures are still a problem, they are no longer increasing at such an alarming rate.

All of these trends point to a slowly recovering housing market in the Weirton-Steubenville MSA. It will likely take many more months (or even years) for prices to return to their pre-crash levels, but it appears that the worst is finally over for this hard-hit region.
