Benton, AR

Benton is a city located in Benton County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 2,853 at the 2010 census. Benton is home to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and the Bentonville– Rogersville Micropolitan Statistical Area.

The city of Benton was founded in 1836 by Colonel James H. Berry and was named for Senator Thomas Hart Benton of Missouri. The town's early economy was based on agriculture and livestock. In 1892, a railroad line was built through Benton and it became an important transportation hub for the region. Today, the city is still reliant on rail transportation but has developed into a regional center for business and commerce with a diversified economy that includes manufacturing, health care, education, and tourism.

Real estate in Benton is primarily residential with medium-density development near downtown and high-density development in the suburbs.
