Fontana, CA

Fontana is a city located in the San Bernardino County, California. The population was estimated to be around 129,000 people in 2016. Fontana is known for its large number of shopping centers and its location near major highways and airports.

Fontana has been an agricultural community since the late 1800s. In 1905, a group of local farmers formed the Fontana Irrigation District to bring water from the Santa Ana River to their crops. The city of Fontana was founded in 1926 by A.E. Doyle and his wife Edna as a bedroom community for workers at nearby Lockheed Aircraft Corporation.

The city's growth was slow at first, but it began to take off after World War II when Lockheed started producing bombers here. By 1960, Fontana had reached its current population of over 30,000 residents. Today, the city is still growing rapidly thanks to its many shopping centers and proximity to major highways and airports.
