The Rise and Fall of Paramount's Home Prices

Paramount is a city located in Los Angeles County, California. The population was estimated to be around 102,000 as of the 2010 census. Paramount is known for its large movie studios and has been home to many famous films over the years. Paramount is also home to some of the most expensive real estate in Los Angeles County.

The history of Paramount dates back to 1887 when a group of investors formed the Southern Pacific Railroad’s land division and began purchasing land in what would become Los Angeles County. In 1912, J.P. Morgan purchased a large tract of land on which he built his country estate, Bel-Air. In 1916, Darryl F Zanuck and Harry Cohn formed 20th Century Pictures on this property and began producing movies there. In 1924, Zanuck moved 20th Century Pictures into a new studio he had built on more than 800 acres that he had purchased adjacent to Paramount Studios. This studio became known as Fox Studios West (later called Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corporation).

In 1927, Fox merged with Universal Pictures and all production at Fox Studios West ceased. However, Twentieth Century-Fox continued to lease its facilities from Universal until 1941 when it bought the property outright and renamed it Twentieth Century-Fox Studio lot (later called 20th Century-Fox Stage 1). In 1957, 20th Century-Fox Stage 1 was closed down and all production moved back into the original studio lot at Paramount Pictures (now known as 20th Century-Fox Studio Lot).

Today, Paramount is one of Hollywood’s most important film studios with more than 2,000 employees working there in various capacities including production management; postproduction; marketing; distribution; accounting; legal; human resources; IT services; catering services; art direction/design/visual effects supervision; set construction/maintenance/painting services etc… The studios have produced such classics as “The Godfather” “The Godfather Part II” “Jaws” “ Empire Strikes Back” “Mission: Impossible II” “Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back” etc…
