South Pasadena, CA

South Pasadena is a city located in Los Angeles County, California. The population was estimated at 34,971 in 2013 by the United States Census Bureau. It is bordered by Pasadena to the north and east, La Cañada Flintridge to the south and west, and Glendale to the northwest.

The city of South Pasadena was incorporated on October 17, 1907. The city's name comes from its location south of Pasadena. Prior to incorporation as a city, South Pasadena was an unincorporated area within Los Angeles County. The first post office opened in 1907; it closed in 1957.

The economy of South Pasadena is largely based on retail sales and services. Retail sales account for more than two-thirds of all economic activity in the city; this includes both small businesses and major chains such as Macy's and JCPenney.
