Universal City, CA

Universal City is a city located in Los Angeles County, California. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 106,098. Universal City is known for its theme parks and movie studios. The city was founded by Harry Warner in 1912 as a planned community and was originally called Warner Bros. Colony. Universal City is one of the few remaining planned cities in the United States.

Universal Studios Hollywood is one of the world's most famous movie studios and has been producing movies since 1927. The studio has produced such classics as The Wizard of Oz, Frankenstein, Jurassic Park, and Back to the Future. Universal Studios Hollywood also features amusement park rides such as King Kong 360° Ride, Transformers: The Ride 3D, and Despicable Me Minion Mayhem Theme Park ride.

The city also contains several other movie studios including NBCUniversal Studios Hollywood (formerly Universal Television), which produces television shows such as Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Chicago P.D., DreamWorks Animation SKG (formerly DreamWorks SKG), which produces films such as Kung Fu Panda 3 and Trolls, 20th Century Fox Film Corporation (formerly Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corporation), which produces films such as Avatar and X-Men: Apocalypse, along with 20th Century Fox Television Productions which produces shows like Empire and Lethal Weapon
