Winterhaven is a small town located in Orange County, California. The population of Winterhaven was 10,859 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Anaheim- Santa Ana- Irvine metropolitan area.

The town was founded in 1886 by Henry Huntington and his brother-in-law, George Whiting. The first settlers were farmers who grew citrus fruits and vegetables. In 1888, Henry Huntington built a hotel on what is now Main Street. The hotel became known as the Huntington Hotel and later the Huntington Hotel & Casino.

In 1906, Henry Huntington built an estate called "Wyndham" on what is now Wyndham Drive in Winterhaven. Wyndham was one of the largest estates in Orange County at that time and it served as a model for other large estates that were being built in Orange County at that time such as Newport Beach and Laguna Beach.

In 1923, Henry Huntington's son, Harry S. Truman purchased Wyndham from his father for $2 million dollars and renamed it "Truman Ranch". Truman Ranch served as a presidential retreat from 1945 to 1953 during Harry S Truman's presidency.

Today, Winterhaven is still home to many large estates including The Breakers Resort & Club which was originally built in 1927 by Walter P Moore Jr., founder of Moore Oil Company; Saddleback Mountain Resort which opened its doors in 1978; and The Ritz-Carlton Newport Beach which opened its doors in 1991.
