Westminster, CO

Westminster is a city located in Douglas County, Colorado, United States. The population was 10,811 at the 2010 census. Westminster is part of the Denver- Aurora- Lakewood, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The city was founded in 1881 and named for Westminster Abbey in London. The first post office opened on November 1 of that year. In 1886, a railroad station was built and the town began to grow rapidly as a result of its location near the Cripple Creek Gold Rush. By 1890, Westminster had a population of 2,000 and by 1900 it had reached 5,000 inhabitants.

In 1906, Westminster became home to Colorado State Normal School (now known as CSU– Pueblo), which helped to spur further growth in the city. By 1920, Westminster's population had reached 15,000 and by 1930 it had grown to 25,000 people. During World War II, many residents left for military service but soon after they returned to find their homes damaged or destroyed by the war effort. However despite these challenges Westminster continued to grow steadily through the 1950s and 1960s until reaching its current population of over 50,000 people in 1980.

Today there are many different types of businesses located in Westminster including retail stores such as Macy's and JCPenney; restaurants such as Chili's and Five Guys Burgers & Fries; medical facilities such as St Anthony Hospital; financial institutions such as Wells Fargo Bank; technology companies like Hewlett Packard Enterprise; and manufacturing companies like 3M Company. Additionally there are numerous housing options available for residents including single family homes、condominiums、and apartments。

One important factor that has helped make Westminster an attractive place to live is its close proximity to both Denver International Airport (DIA) and Colorado State University– Pueblo (CSU– Pueblo). DIA is located just 17 miles west of downtown Westminster while CSU– Pueblo is only 9 miles away from downtown Westminster。 This proximity makes it easy for residents not only to commute into Denver but also out into surrounding areas such as Aurora、 Lakewood、and Golden。

It should be noted that while there are many great things about living in Westminster there are also some potential drawbacks that should be considered before making any decisions about moving here。 For example while the city has seen significant growth over recent years this growth has led to increased traffic congestion which can be difficult for residents trying to get around town on foot or by bike。 Additionally crime rates have been on the rise recently with some crimes being more serious than others，such as car theft，burglary，and assault。 However despite these challenges overall life in Westminister remains relatively safe compared with other cities across America。
