Pomfret Center, CT

Pomfret Center is a small town located in Fairfield County, Connecticut. The population of Pomfret Center was 6,811 as of the 2010 census. The town is bordered by the towns of Berlin to the north, Northford to the east, and Woodbury to the south. Pomfret Center is home to several businesses including a Walmart Supercenter, Lowe's Home Improvement store, and a number of restaurants.

The history of Pomfret Center can be traced back to 1786 when it was first settled by farmers. In 1881, Pomfret Center became a town after it was incorporated from parts of Berlin and Northford. The economy of Pomfret Center has traditionally been based on agriculture and manufacturing but over time has diversified with businesses such as Walmart opening in the town. Today, there are several housing developments in Pomfret Center including Brookside Village which was completed in 2007 and contains more than 1,000 homes. There are also single-family homes available for purchase as well as condominiums and apartments.

The schools in Pomfret Center are generally good quality with many students attending schools that are ranked among the best in Connecticut. There are four elementary schools (Emmons Elementary School, Maple Hill Elementary School, Meadowbrook Elementary School, Southview Elementary School) and one middle school (Pomfret Middle School). The high school students have access to two high schools: Fairfield Ludlowe High School which is located in neighboring Ludlowe Towne Centre and Sacred Heart High School which is located just outside of town near Interstate 84 Exit 16A on Route 202/203. There are also several private schools available for students including Saint Joseph's Academy (a Catholic school), Greenwich Country Day School (an independent day school), Trinity-Pomona College Preparatory Academy (a charter school), and Weston High School (a public high school).
