Palm Bay, FL

Palm Bay is a city located in Brevard County, Florida. As of the 2010 census, the population was 57,527. Palm Bay is a principal city of the Palm Bay- Melbourne- Titusville Metropolitan Statistical Area, which had a population of 243,006 as of the 2010 census.

The area that would become Palm Bay was first settled in 1825 by John C. Brevard and his brother-in-law George W. Merritt. The town was originally called "Brevard" after their friend and fellow Virginia colonist John Brevard (1753-1828), who had donated land for their settlement. In 1857, Palm Bay's first post office opened with the name "Brevard." The town's name was changed to " Palm Bay" in 1883 after Henry Flagler built his Florida East Coast Railway through town and named one of his hotels "The Palm Beach."

Today, Palm Bay is known for its beautiful beaches and resorts as well as its growing business community. The city has been experiencing rapid growth since 2000 thanks to an influx of new residents and businesses seeking to capitalize on its many amenities and opportunities.
