Livingston, IL

Livingston is a small town located in Livingston County, Illinois. The population was 2,827 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Livingston County.

The town was founded in 1837 and named for Scottish economist Adam Smith. Livingston is home to the Livingston County Historical Museum, which features exhibits on local history and natural history. The museum also houses a collection of antique furniture and other artifacts.

Today, Livingston is primarily a residential community with a few businesses scattered throughout the town. The main economic drivers are agriculture (mainly dairy farming) and tourism (due to its location near several attractions, including the Cahokia Mounds National Monument). There has been some recent development in the area around Interstate 55, with new businesses opening up that cater to commuters and tourists traveling between Chicago and St Louis.
