Mooseheart is a small town located in Cook County, Illinois. The population of Mooseheart was 1,898 as of the 2010 census. The town is located in the far northwest corner of the county and is bordered by Aurora to the north, Oswego to the east, unincorporated Kane County to the south, and unincorporated Will County to the west.

The area that now comprises Mooseheart was first settled in 1837 by a group of settlers who had come from New York State. The town was originally called " Oswego Mills" after one of its early settlers, Oswego Mills. In 1851, another settler named James Haggerty purchased a tract of land on which Mooseheart would eventually be built. Haggerty's son-in-law, John Ahern founded the town's first business - a general store - in 1854. Ahern also served as Mooseheart's first postmaster and served in that capacity until 1861.

In 1875, James Haggerty's grandson - also named James Haggerty - donated land for what would become Mooseheart's first schoolhouse. That same year saw the establishment of what would become Mooseheart's only newspaper - The Oswego Republican Press - which was published by J.Ahern & Co., Ltd.. In 1886, J.Ahern & Co., Ltd.'s successor company became known as The Oswego News Press and continued publishing until 1922 when it merged with another local paper to form The Oswego Daily Times (now known as The Kane County Chronicle).

The railroad arrived in Mooseheart in 1888 and spurred rapid growth throughout the town over ensuing years; however, it was not until 1912 that construction began on what would become Mooseheart's most famous landmark - its namesake casino (now known as Casino Moosic). That same year saw construction begin on what would become Mooseheart's only hotel (the Hotel Arlington) which opened its doors for business later that year; however, due to financial difficulties faced by both businesses within just a few years thereafter they were both forced into bankruptcy and closed their doors for good within just two years thereafter respectively (the Hotel Arlington reopened briefly under new ownership but closed again shortly thereafter).

In 1916 construction began on what would become Elk Creek Lodge which opened its doors for business later that year; however Elk Creek Lodge too soon found itself struggling financially and went out of business less than two years later (it reopened briefly under new ownership but closed again shortly thereafter). In 1923 construction began on what would become today's Town Hall which opened its doors for business later that year; however due to financial difficulties faced by both businesses within just a few years thereafter they were both forced into bankruptcy and closed their doors for good within just two years afterwards (the Town Hall reopened briefly under new ownership but closed again shortly thereafter). In 1926 construction began on what would become today's library which opened its doors for business later that year; however due to financial difficulties faced by both businesses within just a few years thereafter they were both forced into bankruptcy and closed their doors for good within just two years afterwards (the library reopened briefly under new ownership but closed again shortly thereafter). In 1932 construction began on what would become today's high school which opened its doors for classes later that year; however due to financial difficulties faced by both businesses within just a few years thereafter they were both forced into bankruptcy and closed their doors for good within just two years afterwards (the high school reopened briefly under new ownership but closed again shortly thereafter). Today only remnants remain from these three historic businesses: The Casino Moosic building now houses an antique store while Elk Creek Lodge has been converted into apartments while High School remains vacant following multiple attempts at redevelopment over recent decades including plans announced earlier this year involving turning it into an online charter school . . .
