University Park is a city located in Cook County, Illinois, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 34,812. University Park is home to the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign and was founded in 1855 as a small agricultural village by George M. Pullman. The city grew rapidly after the arrival of the university in 1867 and was incorporated as a town in 1889. In 1916, it became an independent city with a population of over 30,000 people.
