Westville, IL

Westville is a small town located in Cook County, Illinois. The population of Westville was 2,812 as of the 2010 census. The median household income in Westville was $60,000 in 2009.

The history of Westville can be traced back to 1837 when the first settler arrived and built a cabin on what is now known as Main Street. In 1848, the first post office opened in Westville and remained open until 1951. In 1892, the town was incorporated and by 1910 it had a population of 1,500. The growth of Westville continued through World War II with an influx of workers who were hired to build military bases in nearby towns such as Joliet and Chicago. After the war, many families moved into the town due to its affordable housing and excellent schools.

Today, Westville is a thriving community that continues to grow thanks to its strong economy and abundance of amenities such as shopping malls, restaurants, churches, and parks. The town has several well-known businesses including J&J Tire & Auto Service which has been operating since 1922 and Kmart which opened its doors in 1962. There are also several small businesses that provide goods and services unique to Westville such as Lighthouse Bakery which specializes in pies made from scratch using local ingredients, The Glass Onion which sells handmade glassware from local artists, and Wildflower Treasures which sells natural beauty products made from locally sourced ingredients.

Westville is home to several schools including East Middle School (grades 6-8), North Elementary School (grades K-5), South Elementary School (grades K-5), Parkview Middle School (grades 9-12), and Joliet Central High School (grades 9-12). All four elementary schools are part of the Joliet Township District 211 while Parkview Middle School is part of the Plainfield Township District 203 school district but both districts share a campus with East Middle School. Both high schools are part of District 214 - East Stroudsburg Area High Schools
