Hudson is a small town located in southeastern Iowa. The population was 1,821 at the 2010 census. Hudson is located at 41°4′N 90°53′W / 41.7000°N 90.8900°W / 41.7000; -90.8900 (41.7018,-90.9063).
The town of Hudson was founded in 1855 by George and Nancy Hudson, who were early settlers in the area. The first business in town was a general store operated by the Hudsons. In 1856, the first post office opened in Hudson and it was named after General James K Polk, then president of the United States. The name of the town was changed to Hudsonville in 1892 to honor Judge Benjamin Fenton Hudson, who had served as Iowa's attorney general and as a U.S Senator from Iowa prior to his death in 1890.
Today, much of what makes Hudson unique remains unchanged since its founding over 150 years ago: its small-town feel, friendly people, and beautiful countryside are all staples of life here! While there have been some changes over time – most notably with the growth of nearby towns such as Mount Pleasant and West Point – much about life here still revolves around agriculture and small businesses such as grocery stores and hardware stores that have been around for generations!
