Westfield, IA

Westfield is a small town located in southeastern Iowa. The population was 2,521 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Davis County.

The town was founded in 1846 and named for Westfield, Massachusetts, the hometown of one of its founders. The first settlers arrived in 1847 and built a log cabin on what is now Main Street. The town grew slowly at first, but began to take off after the arrival of the railroad in 1868. By 1900, Westfield had a population of 1,500 and had become an important commercial center for southeastern Iowa.

Today, Westfield remains an important community with a strong economy based largely on agriculture and manufacturing. However, it has also developed into a desirable place to live with its well-maintained infrastructure and friendly people.
