Frontenac, KS

Frontenac is a small town in Johnson County, Kansas, located about 20 miles west of Lawrence. The population was 1,914 at the 2010 census. Frontenac was founded in 1872 and named for the French general Jean-Baptiste Jourdan.

The town's economy is based on agriculture and tourism. Frontenac is home to the Frontenac Museum, which features exhibits on local history and natural history. The museum also operates a gift shop.
