Halstead, KS

Halstead is a small town in Johnson County, Kansas, located about 20 miles south of Wichita. The population was 1,868 at the 2010 census. Halstead was founded in 1872 and named for Judge John Halsted of the United States District Court for the District of Kansas.

The town's economy is based largely on agriculture and real estate. There are several businesses in Halstead that provide services to the agricultural community, including a grain elevator, feed store, and tractor dealership. The town also has a small number of retail establishments, including a grocery store and two gas stations.
