Lindsborg is a small town in Johnson County, Kansas, located about midway between Wichita and Topeka. The population was 2,811 at the 2010 census. Lindsborg is home to the historic Lindsborg Opera House and the Johnson County Courthouse.
The history of Lindsborg can be traced back to 1854 when Colonel William A. Phillips established a trading post on the site that would later become Lindsborg. The town began to grow rapidly in the late 1800s as farmers moved into the area to take advantage of fertile farmland and ample water resources. By 1900, Lindsborg had a population of 1,500 and was considered one of the most prosperous towns in Johnson County.
During World War II, Lindsborg served as a military base for troops training for combat in Europe. After the war, many veterans returned to Lindsborg and helped revive the economy by opening businesses such as grocery stores and gas stations. In recent years, however, economic conditions have been difficult forLindsburgand many residents have left for larger cities such as Wichita or Topeka. Nevertheless, Lindsburg continues to thrive as an historic community with plenty of attractions for visitors
