Moline, KS is a city located in Johnson County, Kansas. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 34,824. Moline is a suburb of Kansas City and is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. The city's economy is based on health care, manufacturing and retail trade.

Moline was founded in 1872 by George W. Norris and James H. Hill as a railroad town on the Missouri Pacific Railroad line. The city's name honors Illinois Senator Stephen A. Douglas who helped to secure funding for the railroad through his influence with Congressmen Hill and Norris. Moline grew rapidly as a result of its location near several major railroads and its access to markets in eastern Nebraska and western Iowa. The city's first business district was located along Main Street between Second and Third Streets; this area remains active today as an industrial district with several large manufacturers (Boeing, Emerson Electric Co., Honeywell) employing many local workers.
