Olpe, KS

Olpe is a small town in Johnson County, Kansas, located about halfway between Wichita and Topeka. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. Olpe is home to the Olpe Community College and the Olpe Historical Museum.

The first settlers in what would become Olpe arrived in 1871. The town was named for a German village near Frankfurt am Main. A post office had been established at Olpe in 1872, and by 1880 there were enough people living there to form a town government. The railroad came through Olpe in 1881, and the town began to grow rapidly as farmers moved into the area to take advantage of the new opportunities it offered.

Today, real estate is one of the main sources of income for residents of Olpe. There are several subdivisions and homesites available for purchase or lease in the town, as well as commercial properties that can be leased or sold. Many of these properties are situated on major thoroughfares that serve as important transportation hubs for residents and businesses in the area.
