Montague, MA

Montague is a town located in Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 2,927 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Worcester metropolitan area.

The town of Montague was first settled in 1724 by Ebenezer and John Wheelwright. The town was incorporated on March 12, 1792. The name Montague is derived from Mount Auburn in Cambridge, which was once the home of many wealthy families including the Adamses and the Winthrops.

Montague is known for its picturesque architecture and well-preserved historical district. Many notable buildings in Montague date back to the 18th century including the Congregational Church (1736), Old South Meeting House (1739), and Governor's Mansion (c. 1750). Today, Montague is home to a number of businesses including a brewery, winery, law firm, bookstore, and art gallery.
