Battle Creek, Michigan is a city located in Calhoun County. The population was 116,837 as of the 2010 census. Battle Creek is the county seat of Calhoun County. The city is situated on the banks of the Kalamazoo River and has been nicknamed "The City of Flowers" because of its many gardens and parks. Battle Creek was first settled in 1836 and became a town in 1851. It became a city in 1903.
