Union, MI

Union is a small town in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It is located on the eastern shore of Lake Superior, about halfway between Marquette and Houghton. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. Union was first settled in 1837 by settlers from New York. The town was named for the United States union flag.

The economy of Union is based largely on tourism and agriculture. The town has several tourist attractions, including a lighthouse, an ice cream shop, and a museum dedicated to local history and art. There are also several restaurants and businesses that cater to tourists. Union is also home to two wineries: Union Hill Vineyards and White Pine Winery.

Union's primary industry is agriculture, with crops such as corn, soybeans, wheat, potatoes, apples, cherries and cranberries grown in the area. There are also dairy farms in the area and a number of logging operations. The town's main employer is K-12 education; there are six schools in Union serving approximately 1,500 students each year.
