Macomb, MI

Macomb is a city located in Macomb County, Michigan. The population was 101,811 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Macomb County. The city is named after General James K. Polk, who served as President of the United States from 1845 to 1849.

The area that now comprises Macomb was first settled by Europeans in 1796. The town of Mount Clemens was founded in 1817 and became the county seat of Macomb County in 1827. In 1840, General James K. Polk visited Mount Clemens and decided to name the new town after himself; thus, Macomb was born.
