Savage, MN

Savage is a small town located in Hennepin County, Minnesota. The population was 1,868 at the 2010 census. Savage is home to the historic Savage Mill and the annual Savage Folk Festival.

The history of real estate in Savage dates back to 1853 when a landowner by the name of John A. Stevens platted a section of what would become downtown Savage. Stevens built a sawmill on the banks of the White Earth River and soon became one of the town's leading businessmen. In 1892, he donated land for what would become St. John's Lutheran Church and Cemetery. In 1906, Stevens' son-in-law, Jens Peter Christensen, built an opera house on Main Street which served as both a theater and community center until it burned down in 1923.

In 1907, William Cramer purchased Stevens' mill property and began developing it into one of Hennepin County's most successful real estate ventures. Cramer developed more than 100 acres of land into residential subdivisions which he marketed under the name "Cramer Park." By 1930, Cramer had sold all but six acres of his holdings in Savage and moved his operations to Minneapolis where he continued to develop suburban neighborhoods until his death in 1961.

During World War II, many young men enlisted in the military and were unable to return home to their families immediately after discharge. As a result, housing shortages developed throughout America as returning servicemen sought homes near military bases or other areas where they could be close to work or training facilities. This housing crisis was particularly acute in Minnesota where numerous large cities were already experiencing severe overcrowding problems due to rapid population growth rates during the early 20th century. Consequently, many rural areas began experiencing significant growth as well thanks largely to demand from servicemen stationed nearby at Fort Snelling or other military installations around Hennepin County..

In 1947, James Wirth purchased Cramer Park from its longtime owner and began developing it into one of Minnesota's first planned communities - North Hills Village (now known as North Hills). Wirth was an experienced developer who had worked extensively on behalf of Sears Roebuck & Company before starting his own business venture several years earlier..

North Hills Village was an instant success thanks largely to Wirth's innovative marketing strategies which included establishing close ties with local schools and churches.. By 1957 there were already more than 1,000 residents living in North Hills Village which made it one of Minnesota's largest single-family residential developments at that time.. In 1971 North Hills Village merged with another nearby development known as Woodland Lakes Estates (now known as Woodland Lakes) forming what is now one of Minnesota's largest master-planned communities - Woodland Lakes/North Hills (WLNW). WLNW has since expanded several times beyond its original boundaries making it now home to over 25 thousand residents..

Today , real estate remains an important part of life for residents in Savage .
