Vernon Center is a small town located in Hennepin County, Minnesota. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. Vernon Center is located in the Twin Cities metropolitan area and is bordered by Robbinsdale to the north, Maple Grove to the east, Fridley to the south, and Minneapolis to the west.

The town of Vernon Center was founded in 1868 when James Fenton platted a 160-acre farm on land that he had purchased from the Native Americans. The first settlers arrived in 1869 and built homes along what is now Main Street. Vernon Center became an incorporated village in 1902.

Today, Vernon Center is a thriving community with a rich history. The downtown area features several historic buildings including the old post office (now home to a bank), several churches (including First Lutheran), and two public schools (Vernon Elementary School and Vernon Middle School).
