Kansas City is a city in the state of missouri with a population of roughly 282,278. It is in Jackson County, Missouri the Kansas City, MO-KS core-based statistical areas (CBSA), and the Kansas City-Overland Park-Kansas City, MO-KS combined statistical area (CSA).Its Zip codes include 64152 ,64138 .
Kansas City is a major metropolitan area in the U.S. state of Missouri, and the largest city in the state by population. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 539,513. The metropolitan area had a population of 1,151,045 as of 2010.
The city was founded by members of the Mormon church in 1853 as a center for trade and commerce on the Santa Fe Trail. It soon became an important manufacturing center and emerged as one of America's leading banking and finance centers during the late 19th century. In 1904, Kansas City became home to two professional sports teams: baseball's Kansas City Blues (now called the Royals) and football's Chiefs (now called the Rams). The Blues played their home games at Municipal Stadium from 1911 to 1973; they moved to Kauffman Stadium in 1974. The Chiefs played their home games at Arrowhead Stadium from 1960 to 2013 before moving to Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, KS for 2016 season onwards
Today, Kansas City is known for its arts scene; it has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2016 for its significant historic architecture and urban planning including numerous examples of Victorian-era architecture such as Union Station (1895), Power & Light District (1903), Crown Center (1929), Kauffman Plaza (1962), First National Bank Tower (1973) and Liberty Memorial (1984). Other notable structures include St Luke's United Methodist Church (1872) which was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1978; Kemper Arena/Exhibition Hall which was built in 1922 as part of an effort to bring major league baseball back to Kansas City after it left following World War I; Armour Theatre which opened on November 10th 1929 with Orson Welles' production "The Magnificent Ambersons"; The Midland Theatre which opened on October 14th 1927 with "The Jazz Singer" starring Al Jolson; Pershing Square which opened on October 15th 1935 with "The Great Ziegfeld". In recent years downtown has seen significant redevelopment with new mixed-use projects such as Power & Light District II development completed in early 2018 near Union Station featuring residential units above retail space including Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th store, Apple Store and many more restaurants including Bar Louie which will open later this year
